The Amistad Commission was commissioned by the Illinois General Assembly and charged as an organized body to survey, design, encourage, and promote the implementation of education and awareness programs in Illinois that are concerned with The American Civil Rights, Transatlantic Slave Trade, Slavery in the United States and Contributions of African-Americans in building our country.
The Illinois State Board of Education is working with the Amistad Commission to survey Illinois teachers on what is being taught in the classroom on these topics. Please fill out the survey. It will only take about 10 minutes to complete.
