Always loyal to their hometown and dedicated to community-building, the Roots are being honored with their very own mural that will be painted on a building in Philadelphia.
The Roots Mural Project is part of the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, the largest public art program in the country. Following an open call for artists, a group was selected to paint a mural on the side of the World Communications Charter School, located at 1433 South Street. It is projected to be finished by November.
According to the Mural Arts website, “Multimedia elements such as video, online interaction, on-site activation, with city-wide engagement through paint days, pop up studios, a strong curriculum for a youth arts component called ‘Roots 101,’ and much more will be incorporated into this project.”
