FINLEY RECREATION CENTER YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL TO HOST BACK TO SCHOOL RALLY

Rally plans to mobilize young community change agents

PHILADELPHIA-September 25, 2012 – “Community Change Agents: Back To School Rally” from 10am-2pm at the Finley Recreation Center located at 1000 Horter Street.State Representative Cherelle Parker will give introductory remarks to the Students and Parents and Councilwoman Marian Tasco and State Representative Dwight Evans will be in attendance to give Closing Remarks.Youth who attend the Rally will be asked to identify topics and concerns that they feel strongly about in their community including Gang Violence, Health Education and Academic Support.They also will develop an action plan on how the Youth Advisory Council can work towards addressing these concerns throughout the 2012-2013 school year.Parents who attend will be able to receive information and gain access to programs by the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Technology, The Philadelphia School District, SCH Creative and Performing Arts, Wells Fargo and more.Breakfast and Lunch will be provided by the Finley Recreation Advisory Council and Epic Stakeholders will provide book bags and school supplies.For more information about the event or to schedule an interview, please contact Felicia Harris at (215)341-1441 msfeliciaharris@gmail.com or Britney Norman at (215) 620-4881 britneynorman@gmail.com
