The Making Of South Park – 6 Days To Air (Full Video)
There are almost as many laughs in “6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park” as there are in an actual episode of “South Park.”
This documentary, Sunday night on Comedy Central, looks at how episodes of that long-running show are put together. Watching Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show’s creators, toss around ideas with the other writers is pretty funny. Is it too soon for Japanese tsunami jokes? Is there a story line to be created involving N.C.A.A. scandals and crack babies? What consequences might befall Cartman if he doesn’t read that must-agree-to agreement when he downloads an iTunes update?
The funniest moment of all, though, doesn’t take place in the writers’ room. It comes when we see Anne Garefino, the show’s executive producer, on the phone to the Standards and Practices people, describing a particularly vulgar scene in a parody of the “Human Centipede” films. Nothing in her description can be repeated here, but it’s pretty amusing watching her say it with a straight face. And then she ends the call with: “Thanks. Happy Easter to you too.”
