Mr. Blair Presents: The Rings Of Saturn And The Stars That Lights Up The Sky (Short Story) By: Trevor Bigglesworth

A man’s eyes open as he lies in a bed with crisp, white sheets; he has a startled look on his face as he tries to gather his thoughts. A woman says, “G’mornin’ Eames.” The man looks over his shoulder with a blank, calm look on his face at a beautiful, slender built, Black woman who’s lying on her side in the nude. She has a huge smile on her face. The woman says, “Happy Sunday, luv! I had a wonderful night wit’ ya.” The man is still staring at the woman with a blank, calm look on his face. The man says, “Hm.”

A man’s eyes open as he lies in a bed with crisp, white sheets; he has a confuse look on his face as he sits up and looks around the room. A beautiful, slim built, nude Arab woman walks out of the bathroom. She looks on at the man as he’s lying in bed with a look of passion on her face. The woman says, “Bonjour Eames. Êtes-vous haut pour un autre rond avant que vous quittiez Paris ?” The man stretches his arms as he yawns. The man looks on at the woman with a blank look on his face and says, “Hm” to her.

A man’s eyes open as he lies in a bed with crisp, white sheets; he closes his eyes again and silently counts to five. Before he could get to the number five a woman calls out, “你还想再回来擦, Mr. Eames?” The man sits up in the bed slowly with a blank, calm look on his face. The man looks over at a beautiful Asian woman who’s sitting in a chair wearing a red robe, revealing her nude body as she holds a lit cigarette. The ashes are dropping onto the table next to her and the smoke is populating the air in the room. The woman says, “你离开中国之前,你喜欢吃早餐?” The man covers his mouth as he “Koff! Koff!” from the smoke in the air. He looks on at the woman with a calm look on his face as he says, “Hm.”

A man’s eyes open as he lies in a bed with crisp, white sheets; he breathes deeply with a hint of frustration. As he sits up on the side of the bed a woman yells outs, “Eames! Eames, está usted para arriba?” The man looks over to his left with an emotionless look on his face. A beautiful nude Latin woman is walking towards him with a tray of breakfast. She smiles at the man like the sun would smile onto the Earth in the morning. The woman says, “¿Usted disfrutó de su estancia en Puerto Rico?” The man analyzes the woman from head to toe and says to the woman, “Hm, it was an enjoyable experience. I am sorry, Si.”

A man approaches a bar in a crowded nightclub; loud music and strobe lights are the scenery of the club. To the man’s left is a beautiful Black woman who gives him a smile. The man gives the woman a light smile in return. The man orders himself and the women next to him a vodka and cranberry. As he grabs his drink and goes to walk away from the bar, the beautiful woman reaches out to him. The woman says, “So you’re just going to buy me a drink and not give me your name?” The man leans over towards the woman and says in to her ear, “My name is Eames. And you?” The woman utters into the man’s ear, “My name is Ashley.” The man smirks at Ashley and extends his hand for a handshake and says, “Nice to meet you, Ashley. Hope you have a good night.” Ashley says, “Not so fast, let me return the favor and buy you a drink. I don’t take drinks from strangers; now I know your name I’d like to know a little more about you.” The man says, “Um, I’m just returning home.” Ashley says, “From?” The man says, “A few business trips, I am a CEO for a production company.” Ashley looks on at the man with an alluring look in her eyes and says, “Not bad. Just when I thought you were another guy trying to get into my panties. Tell me more about yourself.” The man looks on at her with a blank stare on his face as his right eyebrow is raised. The man says, “Soooo, what do you think of me now from a few words? Do you really want to hear about me?”  Ashley smiles at the man and caresses her hand down from his shoulder to chest. Ashley says, “Sure I do, maybe over some breakfast later? Some place where there are less bass and blinking lights?” The man rubs the back of his neck with his left hand as he chuckles to his self and says, “Hm. Really? You know what, I would love to but I have to get up early. So, cheers, you have a lovely night, beautiful.” The man walks away as Ashley stands at the bar looking on in awe.

The man leaves the nightclub with a blank, calm look on his face. He walks down the street and a voice calls out from the shadows and says, “Could you spare any change or kind thoughts?” The man looks down at the homeless man sitting on the ground holding his cup up to him. The man digs into his pocket and then stops; he looks down at the homeless man and says, “I don’t know who I am anymore. I don’t know how to be me; when I am myself I push women away but when I am this shell of a man women love me. I have never been surrounded by this many people in my life but still feel so alienated, lonely, depressed, and lost. Sometimes I wake up confused not knowing who I am.  I am so wrapped up in the act, the allure of this man I am suppose to be.” The man pauses as he looks away from the homeless man; he looks back at him. The man’s eyes are watery as he’s trying to hold back tears. The man says, “This man, I do not want to be him anymore. I can’t stop being him because this is the man people know of. No matter where I go in this world, hoping to be alone there is always someone there waiting for me. Am I addicted to the raging lust of beautiful women? After all is said and done I really didn’t want to be there in the first place; between her legs. I guess I am a hopeless dreamer thinking that maybe one woman in this world, other than Ms. Wisle, would want to get to know me to understand who I really am and not this façade of a man. No matter how many women tell me things I want to hear, and give me the one thing I love to feel, I will always be the loneliest man alive. Hm.” The man places money in the homeless man’s cup and then proceeds to walk away. The homeless man looks at the bill and with a look of surprise of the fifty dollar bill; the homeless man yells out; “This is too much, sir!” The man yells back at him as he’s walking down the street with his hands in his pocket, “You earned it.” The homeless man yells back, “Thank you! Thank you! May God bless your soul!” The man utters, “Let’s hope so.”
