Jarrett Sudan Giddings better known by his middle name Sudan is a rapper, guitarist, producer and director
born and raised in West Philadelphia. Sudan started rapping at age 11 and recalls the very moment he
decided to take his craft serious after hearing Nas and Lauryn Hill’s “If I Ruled the World” on the radio while sitting on his front step.

Sudan was given his first electric guitar by Philadelphia jazz artist Joseph Canady

who introduced him to the art form. Expressing influences from Nas, AZ, Gil Scott Heron,The Red Hot Chili
Peppers, Wu-Tang Clan, film scores, and jazz music. On his musical influences Sudan mentions “I have a
hip hop foundation but other influences can be heard and seen. Don’t put me in a box.”

Sudan gained notoriety outside of his city and internationally from many music and social networks and also gathered a
core fan base from his vivid live shows. Currently Sudan has been featured on iTunes and Spotify releasing
tracks for his latest album “Paradise Fire” working with Philadelphia poet Black Ice and Rapper Big Pooh of
the hip hop group Little Brother.
