I am more than my sexuality or whatever society portrays of me
My preference in the bedroom says nothing about my thoughts on politics or the economy
It’s crazy that one part of you defines the entire part of you
From the outside looking in I fit in well, until I expose myself verbally
Soon as “lesbian” leaves my lips I’m automatically thrown scriptures and life stories of what’s wrong and right
It’s funny that the same ones judging me can’t bear hold mirrors to their lives
Lies and deceit are their rap sheets
So it’s easier to look else where to place judgement on
How about we pick apart and judge every detail about your life?
How your life isn’t right because you cheat on your wife?
Or how your children don’t respect you because you put many men before them

Or how you gossip about the exact same people that support you and are most important to…
You see nobody is perfect or comes closest to it unless you’re the one that created us
Constantly told what rights I have because of who I am attracted to
I am tired of listening to society making false compromises on things they don’t even consider
My preference isn’t a trend that will be out of season tomorrow
Blind to the fact that every person isn’t the same
Eyes wide closed ignoring the importance that everyone should be treated equal
I hope to one day wake up to a world that’s different
Where you’re not judged by who you loved, the color of your skin or the house you live in
We’re caught up in exactly what the media wants
We’ve became puppets all of sudden, our own minds no longer think for themselves anymore
Be different by being authentic…
