A practicing Philadelphia attorney who established and operated a marijuana grow house inside an old warehouse on American Street near Lehigh Avenue was sentenced to five years in federal prison Wednesday.

Richard K. Creamer, 39, was convicted of conspiracy to manufacture 1,000 or more marijuana plants and related offenses after a jury trial in December. The case resulted in two separate indictments charging 12 others, all of whom pleaded guilty and some of whom testified at trial against Creamer.

Authorities said the grow house manufactured marijuana for sale, which was then packaged in multi-pound quantities for distribution in Philadelphia and elsewhere.

According to trial testimony, the monthly yield from the grow operation was 15 to 22 pounds of high-grade marijuana that sold for more than $5,000 per pound. Testimony also revealed Creamer routinely received a 30 to 35 percent share of the monthly yield to distribute.
