Pharrell Williams Launches Teen Site Kidult.com

Hit songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams is the force behind a new online venture: Kidult.com. Described by Williams in a press release as a “reliable news source that speaks directly to teenagers,” Kidult.com features edited and user-generated content that encompasses current events, politics, science, the environment, technology, health, sports, gaming, fashion and entertainment.

Already live, the site also serves up a diverse interview section that ranges from Q&As with popular celebrities (Justin Bieber, Kidz in the Hall, Miranda Cosgrove) to “Cool Job” professionals (the talent coordinator for “The Daily Show”). Supplementing the Kidult.com offerings are blogs, regular political polls and daily video posts (including Kidult-made videos and movie trailers).

In addition, Williams is expanding the Kidult brand into the conference arena. The site is promoting the Kidult Youth Leadership Conference, slated for June 26 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers. Among the speakers will be Williams and Mimi Valdes, the site¹s co-founder and also editor in chief of Latina Magazine.

A member of production duo the Neptunes and the alternative rock trio N.E.R.D., the Grammy Award-winning Williams has also worked with such pop artists as Justin Timberlake and Usher. Williams’ other non-musical ventures include the Billionaire Boys Club clothing line and a recent partnership with Bionic Yarn, a textile firm that develops environmentally sustainable fabrics using recycled plastic bottles. Bionic Yarn has secured corporate partnerships with Cole Haan and End Star, among others.
