Did you hear? The much anticipated documentary Long Distance Revolutionary is coming to Philadelphia. This award winning documentary chronicles the life, work, and struggle of political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal. Not only is this documentary pivotal because it highlights Mumia but it also shines a spotlight on a much bigger issue, mass incarceration.
Long Distance Revolutionary will be showing in Philadelphia May 3-9 at the Ritz at the Bourse. Tickets in other cities have been sold out for this film, we need to do the same in Mumia’s hometown of Philadelphia. I need your help in selling out the tickets for Long Distance Revolutionary in pre-sale to ensure that the nay-sayers can’t use political pressure to pull this film from theatres; at the end of the day money talks.
Tickets range from $7.25 to $10 depending on the show time. Buying your own ticket to attend is great, but buying 5, 10 or 20 tickets even, can make the impact necessary to sell out these shows. I purchased my 10, can 10 of you match me? Whether you choose to donate your tickets, or re-sell them to others I’d like to challenge you to match my efforts by purchasing 10 tickets of your own. All those interested should email me so I can keep track of where we’re at with our goal. Once you get your tickets I’d encourage you to challenge 10 of your friends and family members to do the same, let’s see how much of an impact we can make.
Check out the Long Distance Revolutionary website to learn more about the film, cast members and to purchase your 10 tickets! For those looking to take their activism a step further, join us on April 24, 2013 as we celebrate Mumia’s 59th birthday, details forthcoming.
