“I’ve got Lil Wayne and Eminem at the top…I got ‘em. I like the old school…”

Why is this a topic on 1st And 10, and what qualifies Skip to comment on any of this? He should come spend some time in the Nah Right comments.

MoD Probes ‘Inappropriate’ Term On Soldier’s Uniform

Soldier Magazine Issue January 2010

The MoD has launched an investigation after a photograph of a soldier who had an offensive message written on his kit appeared in its official magazine.

The serviceman’s left kneepad has “Get some Paki” scrawled on it. His picture featured in Soldier magazine alongside a story about new rations for troops.

“An investigation is currently underway to identify the soldier,” said the MoD.

Last year, Prince Harry apologised for using offensive language to describe a Pakistani member of his army platoon.

‘Racist behaviour’

The picture was printed in January’s edition of Soldier, the magazine of the British army published for the UK armed forces by the Ministry of Defence.

Officials airbrushed the online version, but thousands have already been put on sale, with 70,000 sent to serving British troops – many in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defence said it was aware of a photograph and an “inappropriate remark” on a soldier’s uniform.

“The Army does not tolerate racist behaviour,” added the spokesman.

“All those who are found to fall short of the Army’s high standards or who are found to have committed an offence under the Armed Forces Act 2006 are dealt with administratively or through the discipline process.”

In January 2009, Prince Harry got in trouble after a video diary was published by a national newspaper in which the prince called one of his then Sandhurst colleagues a “Paki”.

He said he had used the term as a nickname about a friend and without any malice.

Africa Polio Eradication Scheme Launched

A woman holds her young baby in Goz Beida, eastern Chad, file pic

A campaign has been launched to eradicate polio in west and central Africa, targeting 85 million children.

Some 400,000 health workers and volunteers will go from door-to-door in 19 countries, giving oral polio vaccine to children under the age of five.

Africa has made significant progress in the fight against polio, which attacks the nervous system, but the virus has still not been stamped out.

Previous efforts at eradication failed as too few children were vaccinated.

The effort is a joint campaign by the Red Cross and United Nations.

Many analysts believe the key to its success lies with Nigeria.

In the past, campaigns in the north of the country were met with suspicion by religious leaders, some of whom even suggested the vaccinations were an attempt to spread sterility and HIV.

But religious groups are now showing support for vaccination drives, and correspondents say there is optimism that the debilitating, sometimes fatal, virus can be eradicated.

Civilized Talk w/ Fabolous (The Buried Edition)

Today, I went to a funeral service. A joyous and upbeat one at that. After weeks of push backs, 11th hour recordings and a few back and forth squabbles with DJ Drama on Twitter, their highly anticipated mixtape, There Is No Competition 2, was finally released. So here’s how the story goes…

I met up with Loso at the Ace Hotel in New York for the “funeral gathering.” You could tell he was really embodying the funeral aspect. While speaking with me, Fab was preparing his outfit for the occasion: an all black tailored Fendi suit. We chopped it about his own favorite eulogies (records) from the tape and which fads in Hip-Hop he’d like to see with a toe tag on them. At the same time, he also spoke on whose career he would like to see resurrected. He even goes on to say who he believes he bodied with this new tape. – KC

B.o.B. Premiering ‘Vietnam’ Song On Lupe Tour, Talks ‘Bobby Ray’

Before his debut album, B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, hits shelves on April 27, B.o.B. is excited to hit the road with labelmate Lupe Fiasco. Their nationwide tour kicks off this Friday (March 5) in Claremont, California.

The pair first met in the hallway of Atlantic Records in New York City. Given their similar unconventional style, their chemistry in the studio was instant.

“We got in the studio first and then we started doing show dates together and then it kind of evolved into a full out tour,” B.o.B told VIBE last week. “I’m actually excited because I’ve just been performing mixtape songs for the past year. I’m ready to do some new material.”

While video of the Atlanta newcomer performing his album cut, “Yesterday,” has already hit the Web, he also plans on premiering a few other tracks on stage, including “Go Through the Machine” and “Letter From Vietnam,” which is inspired by a true story.

‘Funeral’ Held for Aging Web browser

A Denver, Colorado, design firm posted this invitation to Thursday's "funeral" for Internet Explorer 6.

(CNN) — More than 100 people, many of them dressed in black, were expected to gather around a coffin Thursday night to say goodbye to an old friend.

The deceased? Internet Explorer 6.

The aging Web browser, survived by its descendants Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8, was to be eulogized at a tongue-in-cheek “funeral” hosted by Aten Design Group, a design firm in Denver, Colorado.

The memorial service was to feature a coffin holding a “body” that has an IE6 logo for a head. Attendees were expected to eulogize the Microsoft browser by sharing remembrances, some of which have already been posted on the company’s online funeral invitation.

“I feel terrible admitting this, but … I never really liked him,” posted someone who gave his name as Eddie Escher. “He had so many hang-ups, and he looked awful — especially in his later years. But… he was always there when you needed him. You have to give him that.”

Boi-1da Interview w/ Fli Pelican

Toronto’s Boy Wonda talks about wanting to experiment outside of hip-hop, Dr. Dre being his biggest influence, the faux-sample by Al Khaaliq that was used on “Over”, and says his boy wrote a hook for Jeezy to use on “Over” before Drake got it.

Healthier Men Want More Sex For More Years

If men stay in good shape, they can enjoy more years of good sex, a study says.

(CNN) — Healthier men, no matter their age, are going to have better sex more frequently and desire it more often than healthier women.

And a healthier sex life could mean a longer life.

That’s according to a paper written by University of Chicago researchers that was published Tuesday in the British Medical Journal. While the supposition that men think about sex more than women isn’t new, the paper’s findings have wider implication for attitudes toward public health and how patients respond to doctors’ advice, said Dr. Stacy Tessler Lindau, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology and geriatric medicine who spearheaded the research.

“If you are a man diagnosed with diabetes or high blood pressure and I tell you that you need to lose weight and take medication, and I can say the benefit is five extra years of sex life, you might be more inclined to do what I tell you,” she explained.

Lindau said that women generally reported wanting less sex or receiving it less often for three reasons: Women outlive men by an average of five to six years and without a partner, women are less likely to engage in sex. Secondly, there’s a Western cultural acceptance — and removal of stigma — of men who have erectile dysfunction and have turned to relatively recently marketed drugs such as Viagra; women don’t have that.
