Who??: The Occult Personality Of Dr Sigmund Freud 0

Posted on September 08, 2010 by iSpit

Regarding the occult, Freud wrote “if I were at the beginning rather than at the end of a scientific career … I might possibly choose just this field of research, in spite of all difficulties”.[1]

Continuing our theme of profiling famous occultists in history, Today we examine Sigmund Freud. He has been called one of the most influential thinkers in western civilization, and rightly so. He is the originator of, or contributor to, many concepts; including psychoanalysis, psychosexual development, and philosophy and is widely recognized throughout popular culture. To say that Sigmund Freud was an influential man, not only in his own time, but also from that time to the present day, would be an understatement. His ideas are recognized and taught throughout the world, at many levels of academia.

What is not as widely recognized is Freud’s great interest in the occult. Again, we see that a man who was a member of the elite in many respects, was not just a dabbler, but was completely immersed in the subject. Luckily for us, the legacy of this interest was documented to some degree.

Freud was fascinated by ancient civilizations. His collection of artifacts and relics was quite extensive, and later in his life, he refused to travel without his collection.[2] These items are said to have included:

Why The CEP Banned Wyclef 0

Posted on September 08, 2010 by iSpit

Recent reports and statements about the elections have focused on one key issue that is likely to undermine the election: The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), appointed by President Rene Preval, has excluded 15 political parties then 15 candidates were rejected.

The U.S. and the international community have an obligation to condemn the CEP for excluding fifteen well-known political parties and some candidates without any logical reason.

Ten years ago the U.S. and the international community boycotted elections because opposition parties themselves chose to not participate, accusing that CEP of being controlled by the Fanmi Lavalas party. Today some of these same parties are being intentionally excluded from participating, along side the Fanmi Lavalas party. This glaring inconsistency in U.S. policy leaves the State Department open to accusations of partisan politics and clear hostility a political party, while at the same time raising questions about the efficacy of millions of dollars of aid funneled into the organization and the promotion of political parties now being excluded from the ballot.

Over the last two decades of U.S. and United Nations interventions in Haiti, a lot of speeches and statements have been made about building Haiti’s nascent democracy.

Mystery Surrounds The ‘Fort Knox’ of Massachusetts 0

Posted on September 08, 2010 by iSpit

Most people outside Massachusetts do not know where this town is, never mind that it is home to one of the country’s biggest gold refineries, a place that regularly churns out gleaming ingots.

Yet Metalor USA Refining Corp. is situated, nonchalantly enough, in an office park here. The concrete compound’s discreet green-and-brown exterior blends into the woodsy landscape, though the seemingly endless razor-wire fencing surrounding it sends a clear “stay out’’ message.

And that’s exactly how Metalor likes it.

“It’s like Fort Knox,’’ said Paul Belham, vice president of the North Attleborough Industrial Park Tenants Association, which represents businesses in the park where the company is located. “They’re very secretive over there.’’

The plant, a vestige of the region’s once grand jewelry making, is one of a handful of US refineries that make prized bars of nearly 24-carat gold. Known as “four-nines,’’ they are stamped 999.9 to indicate they are nearly pure gold.

Gold moves in and out of the Metalor plant in armored trucks, but exactly where the gold comes from or where it goes is rather mysterious. Competitors and several consultants either declined to speak about the company or did not return phone calls. And when they did, details were slim.

Twinz!!: Michael Jackson: King of Pop or Pharaoh of Pop?? 0

Posted on September 07, 2010 by iSpit

WE KNOW Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, but could he have been the Pharaoh of Pop too?

A spectacular likeness of the singer, who died in June of a suspected drug overdose, has been found – carved in stone on a 3,000-year-old Egyptian sculpture of a woman.

The uncanny likeness even extends as far as the almond-shaped eyes and strange crumbling nose.

“The similarity with Jackson is astounding”

The stone piece, which resides in Chicago’s Field Museum, was carved during the New Kingdom period, or around the time of Ramses and Tutankhamun, some time between 1550BC and 1050BC.

Oddly enough, Jackson’s video to his 1993 hit Remember The Time was set in ancient Egypt during the reign of Ramses.

A spokesman for the museum told the Sun Times newspaper in Chicago: “I have no idea whether Jackson ever visited the museum, but the similarity between the limestone statue of a woman – which is about 3,000 years old – and Jackson is astounding.”

The bust went on display at the museum in 1988, shortly before Jackson’s face underwent its most dramatic surgical changes. Presumably, modelling his face on the golden death mask of Tutankhamun would have been too expensive.

Regina King: The Emmys: As White As Ever 0

Posted on September 06, 2010 by iSpit

Since the Emmy ceremony, I have been going back and forth about whether or not I should compose this letter. I try hard in my daily life not to engage in uncomfortable situations regarding race. But sometimes it’s very difficult to find other reasons that better explain why certain events play out the way they do. It is impossible for me to ignore the published statistics regarding the number of people of color mentioned, celebrated or honored in the history of the televised Emmys. Up to and including this year, there have been only 53 non-white actors nominated for Emmys out of nearly 1,000 possible nominations in the top four acting categories for drama and comedy.

I’ve worked in television nearly all of my professional life, and that statistic is quite sobering to me. And to add injury to my already sensitive nerve endings a picture of Rutina Wesley from True Blood, who attended this year’s Emmys, had a caption that read: “Regina King enters the 62nd Emmys.” No, I wasn’t there. Mistakes happen, right? Well after a few “mistakes” of how people of color are portrayed in the Hollywood media, I decided it was important to say something about how things go down in Hollywood.

Raekwon On Remixing Justin Bieber 0

Posted on September 04, 2010 by iSpit

Raekwon is on fire. Since the release of Only Built For Cuban Linx II last September, the sequel to his classic 1995 debut, the Wu-Tang Clan member has been enjoying a late-career resurgence rarely seen in hip-hop. His most recent power-move, a collaborative remix of Justin Bieber’s “Runaway Love” instigated by Kanye West on Twitter, left hardcore Wu-Tang fans and a nation of tweens equally confounded. But with more Kanye-affiliated music, his next solo album, and a feature film on the way, the Chef is just getting warmed up. The rapper spoke with Vulture about all that and more.

You’ve had one hell of a year.
It’s been prosperous, difficult, and definitely refreshing. I say “prosperous” because we’ve gained so many points in so many different ways in the industry, as well as with our fans, and they give you the motivation. I know that the key to really being relevant in the game is just being prosperous. Difficult, meaning it’s a new industry, so you definitely have to see how things
