Presented by Finding Empowerment Through Education & Lissa Alicia

On Saturday, April 6th, 2013, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Peace Spot, 1652 Ridge Avenue, in the North Philadelphia, PA, a new creative outlet for young adults will launch. The Teen Media Program aims to enlighten area youth by utilizing popular media to analyze social issues that may have a strong impact on their lives.

Kids (1995), directed by Larry Clark, will be the featured movie for the first installment of this series. The film is based around the activities of young teenagers who inadvertently spread HIV within their social circles. After the viewing, attendees and facilitators will openly discuss the consequences of unprotected sex and the abuse of drugs and alcohol. Free refreshments will be provided.

Partnered in this project series are the non-profit organization Finding Empowerment Through Education (F.E.T.E.) and Melissa “Lissa Alicia” Simpson, Head Staff Writer of Hip Hop Party for the People (HHPP). Aside from the general care for and enlightenment of youth, the program’s goal is to transform the negative energy that fuels the bad lifestyle choices of urban youth into more positive and productive energies and actions. The Teen Media Program model is a unique, multi-faceted and contemporary urban community and youth empowerment initiative.
