** FRESHFEST HISTORY **

Started in May of 2010, “FreshFest” is a concert series created and coordinated by an team of independent artists and planners operational in regional underground entertainment sectors. Occurring multiple times per year, this event series’ installments are produced a bit wider apart than seasonally. Past acts include Selina Carrera, Has-Lo, The Paxtons, Wyldlyfe, Ground Up Sounds, Chill Moody, Zilla Rocca, Aquil, and Antwan Davis. Now approaching it’s fifth installment in a third year running, “FreshFest” stands as a hub that creates and strengthens bonds in the independent musical community, and thus, many other areas.

▼▲ CHRIS VANCE
In an industry overrun with unoriginal ideas and artist near-clones, this South Philadelphia-born emcee only draws inspiration from one source – his life experiences.

▼▲ MAZON
Mazon’s music mirrors a hustle and hunger for better; better hip-hop, a better community for his people and a better life for him. Since picking up a pen and pad in 2001, Mazon’s body of work epitomizes his life and the life of anyone who was never handed anything and had to work twice as hard to claim the title of success.

▼▲ JAWNZAP7
Whether rocking the mic, making beats, producing, engineering, promoting, designing, or networking, Jawnzap7 has been one of the most consistent Independent Hip-Hop artists in Philadelphia for over a decade, with groups Disciples of Discipline, Robots in Disguise, and Burndown All-Stars.

▼▲ SËLA
Formed in 2005, the hip-hop collective, SËLA, has performed with artists such as Phonte & 9th Wonder, Lil B, Mike Taylor, Leonard “Hub” Hubbard (formerly of The Roots), Chill Moody, DJ Phsh, Dice Raw, Nikki Jean, and Hezekiah. Individually and collectively, they are affiliated and have worked with Gilbere Forte, Noizetrip, Curly Castro, Zilla Rocca, and more. As trained musicians, the members of SËLA incorporate their technical knowledge with their diverse sonic influences (N.E.R.D., The Roots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gym Class Heroes, Gorillaz) producing an explosive sound that consistently delivers electrically charged live performances. Audience hits include “Get The Wontons”, “The Future”, and “Grown-Up Story”, which showcase the band’s hypnotic infusion of rock, jazz, dance and hip hop.
