A mother and her 1-year-old suffered graze wounds in a shooting in the East Chatham neighborhood this afternoon, authorities said.The two were injured about 3:20 p.m. while in the area of 79th Street and Maryland Avenue, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.

Including the mother and child, least 41 people have suffered gunshot wounds this weekend in Chicago, including a 6-year-old girl and seven other people who have died from gunshot wounds since 5 p.m. on Friday.

In the latest death, a 19-year-old man shot Friday night in West Rogers Park died this afternoon, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Anthony Scott, of the 9100 block of South Perry Avenue, was declared dead at 3:52 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The man identified as Scott was shot about 9:45 p.m. in the 6300 block of North Oakley Avenue in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, Greer said. Someone called the man over to his vehicle and opened fire as the victim approached, hitting him in the head, according to police.

Earlier this afternoon, a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg about 12:43 p.m. and taken in good condition from the 8900 block of South Vincennes Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood, police said.
