Who REALLY Owns Amerikkka?

by iSpit

Diminishing+Productivity+of+DEBT Who REALLY Owns Amerikkka?

Regardless of how much closer Obama’s budget brings our economy into a balance of payments not seen since 2001, we will continue to run deficits for the next decade, and the national debt will keep growing every year that happens

While most of the country’s $14 trillion debt is held by private banks in the U.S., the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Board estimate that, as of December, about $4.4 trillion of it was held by foreign governments that purchase our treasury securities much as an investor buys shares in a company and comes to own his or her little chunk of the organization.

Looking at the list of our top international creditors, a few overall characteristics show some interesting trends: Three of the top 10 spots are held by China and its constituent parts, and while two of our biggest creditors are fellow English-speaking democracies, a considerable share of our debt is held by oil exporters that (more…)

Ten Reasons Why The Wu Tang Clan Are The Greatest Rap Group Of All Time

by iSpit

wu%20tang%20list%20logo thumb 250x227 Ten Reasons Why The Wu Tang Clan Are The Greatest Rap Group Of All Time

By Phillip

10. Grown-Man Rap
Hip-hop thrives on the energy of youth. All media eyes are on L.A.’s expansive Odd Future collective these days, but beyond the group’s surface schtick about raping and pillaging small villages, its movement is propelled by the same fresh-faced-and-rebellious attitude that, say, a 16-year-old LL Cool J was bringing to rap back in the days before even Tyler’s parents were pubescent. The flip side of this is that rap artists rarely grow old gracefully — even the high priest of the industry himself, Jay-Z, sought to knock nigh on a decade off his birth certificate during his thirtysomething-rap phase. In hip-hop, experience is rarely a selling point, let alone something to be proud of. But of late, the Wu’s grown-man rappers look like they’ve managed to find a way to come to terms with their mature years. GZA is reportedly filming a sitcom about a rapper going through a mid-life existential crisis, while Ghostface has settled into being a balding, grumpy middle-aged man who likes to interrupt shows with monologues about the virtues of the olden days; his last album’s highlight, “In Tha Park,” was based around him and the Roots’ Black Thought reminiscing about previous hip-hop eras. The Wu may be the first group to comfortably embrace the idea of being the finicky old men of rap.

9. Wu-Tang Is (Also) For The Ladies
Let us for a moment gloss over moments like Ghostface’s “Wildflower,” with its bitter venom about “remember when I long-dicked you and broke your ovary” and the time he “fucked (more…)

Baby Pictured on Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Ready To Die’ Cover Found

ready to die Baby Pictured on Notorious B.I.G.s Ready To Die Cover Found
Besides perhaps the Nevermind baby, the child sporting a giant Afro pictured on Notorious B.I.G.’s classic debut Ready to Die is the most iconic infant in album-cover history. As the music world commemorated the 14th anniversary of Biggie’s death on March 9th, many fans began inquiring about the Ready to Die kid. Diddy simply told Rap Radar, “That was a baby we just found… We did a little casting for somebody that looked like Big,” and the Bad Boy offices had long lost any concrete form of documentation.

But now, the New York Daily News has uncovered the 18-year-old who claims to be the mini-B.I.G.: Bronx native Keithroy Yearwood.

“I just want people to know that’s me. The truth is finally coming out,” Yearwood told the Daily News, who corroborated his claim with Yearwood’s baby photos. The story of how the teen landed on the cover also seems to match Bad Boy’s (more…)

Bank of America And GE Pay Zero Federal Taxes…Surprised?

by iSpit

tax evaders 1024x620 Bank of America And GE Pay Zero Federal Taxes...Surprised?

After another money-losing year, Bank of America Corp. got the upper hand with Uncle Sam in 2010.

The Charlotte-based bank had no federal income tax expense for a second straight year and actually reported a tax “benefit” of nearly $1 billion. Also, the bank’s billions in accumulated losses could reduce its taxes in future years, a tax expert said.

The bank says the reason is simple: Corporations pay taxes on their profits, and Bank of America posted a pre-tax loss of $5.4 billion in the U.S. in 2010.

“Bank of America takes its role as a corporate citizen very seriously, and pays taxes in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations,” bank spokesman Jerry Dubrowski said.

That doesn’t satisfy a group that has been staging protests at Bank of America branches around the country and crashed the bank’s New York investor conference this month. The bank is an “aggressive tax dodger,” said Ryan Clayton, a Washington-based organizer of U.S. Uncut. “We pay our taxes. Why don’t they?”

Clayton’s group suggests Bank of America and other large U.S. companies are using subsidiaries in offshore tax havens to eliminate their taxes.

Bank of America and other companies do avoid paying taxes on profits they make in overseas operations by reinvesting these proceeds overseas, instead of bringing them back home. Some business leaders recently have called for a lower tax rate on these earnings, a move they contend would encourage companies to bring these profits to the U.S.

General Electric, the nation’s largest corporation, had (more…)
