JPMorgan Raises $1.2 Billion To Invest In Twitter And Facebook

by iSpit

chart of the day revenue per unique visitor google facebook ebay jan 2011 JPMorgan Raises $1.2 Billion To Invest In Twitter And Facebook

Well, that didn’t take long. JP Morgan has officially raised $1.2 billion for a digital growth fund, which will invest in late-stage tech startups.

That’s about double the amount that the fund was previously reported to be raising. It’s not clear whether the previously reported amount was wrong or whether JP Morgan raised more than they’d previously intended. Also unclear is whether that fund will invest like a late-stage venture firm/private equity fund and directly invest and take board seats, or whether they’ll invest through secondary markets.

One thing is for sure: there’s an extra billion out there for hot big tech companies.

trojan large Trojan Introduces ‘No One’s Pleasure’ Condoms For Bitter, Resentful Couples

Props: Onion

Contraceptive manufacturer Trojan unveiled its new line of “No One’s Pleasure” condoms Wednesday, the first prophylactic specifically designed to intensify sexual dissatisfaction among bitter and resentful couples.

“We’ve always offered consumers a choice when it comes to protection, and we wanted to give emotionally distant partners an option that suits their lack of intimacy,” said Jim Daniels, vice president of marketing at Trojan. “That’s why we’ve developed the only condoms clinically proven to exploit performance anxiety, heighten discomfort levels, and prolong the petty arguments that allow couples to bicker needlessly all night long.”

According to a Trojan press release, No One’s Pleasure condoms feature a quarter-inch-thick layer of non-lubricated latex with a unique abrasive texture that creates a variety of stinging sensations “for both him and her.” The company statement goes on to explain that the product magnifies (more…)

Dr. Dre Invented Burning Man Festival

by iSpit

Fader magazine and a mysterious Tumblr misleadingly called drdrestartedburningman.tumblr.com are currently pimping a pseudo meme called “Dr. Dre Started Burning Man.” Of course Dr. Dre did not start Burning Man–a bunch of hippies did. But Fader and the Tumblr site have posted a 1995 letter allegedly in Dre’s handwriting where the Dr. mentions running into the original Burners in the desert while on a video scouting trip and wondering how he could get in on the action and make money out of them. He also makes very ostensible heterosexual statements about the recipient of the letter, a lady named Nicole, proving once and for all what a humongous heterosexual Dr. Dre is, wanting to get up in ladies’ asses and such. Read the whole thing:

Kanye West x Mos Def x Lupe Fiasco Freestyle Sets at the Blue Note (Updated)

by iSpit

Lupe Fiasco, jazz pianist Robert Glasper and his Robert Glasper Experiment played a show at famed New York jazz club the Blue Note. Ironically, Mos Def & Kanye showed up (which minus Pharell would have been CRS) and freestyled with the liv eband behind them. Kanye, of course, took the jacket off and spazzed out. Listen, stream and download below…

Eric Blair Presents – Daily Knowledge: YOU: Black people all over the world! (Day 28)

by Mr. Blair

Eric Blair Presents – Daily Knowledge: YOU: Black people all over the world! (Day 28)

7 Eric Blair Presents – Daily Knowledge: YOU: Black people all over the world! (Day 28)

Today is a new day, tomorrow will be an even better day, YOU can make history right NOW. Never let anyone tell YOU that you’re not capable of doing amazing or astonishing things. History is made everyday; will YOU be the next person in the history books? Don’t let your environment or people’s ignorance bring you down. YOU can be anything you want to be, whether you’re five or ninety-five. Dreams never die, just people. Be the first Black person to cure AIDS and cancer. Be the first Black person to fly to Mars. Be the first Black woman to be president of the United States of America. Be the first Black person to cure famine worldwide. Be fearless; liberate a country or the minds of many. Be one of many Black people to carry on our forefathers’ legacies; not George Washington or Thomas Jefferson, more like, Martin Luther King Jr., Maya Angelou, Malcolm-X, Nat Turner, and the many others. Become the next Huey Newton, never compromise in the face of adversity. Never be the last at anything, be someone beautiful, become something sublime. Never let anyone discourage YOU from reaching beyond the stars. You’re original, you’re unique, and you’re stupendous, never forget that. Dreams are only the template for your goals. Don’t become a product of your environment, become the greatest Black man or woman that YOU can be.

Thank you

Peace!

How Hip Hop Came Together to Close the Crack House By Davey D

by iSpit

x clan vintage 250 How Hip Hop Came Together to Close the Crack House By Davey D

By: Davey D

People have often talked about fighting wars using biological and chemical weapons. We came after Hitler for using them. We came after Saddam Hussein for using them. Sadly no one ever came after those who flooded urban communities during the 1980s and into the 90s with Crack. If this wasn’t a weapon of mass destruction, I don’t know what was.. One thing I can say about Hip Hop is that early on it confronted the problem.. Kool Moe Deedropped a dope song called ‘Monster Crack’in 1986..

Before him, we heard Cracked Out byMasters of Ceremony featuring a youngGrand Puba who later went on to be a part of Brand Nubian.. Of course we all know the joint from Public Enemy ‘Night of the Living Bassheads which featured the debut of a young actor named Samuel Jackson.

Another landmark song ‘Batterram‘ came from West Coast Legend Toddy Tee.. who responded to the hateful orders of LA Police Chief Darryl Gates to use an armored tank with battering ram to break into fortified crack houses in hood. On more than one occasions, police got the wrong address and broke down the wrong house..

We also cannot forget Donald D who was one of the first rap artists to come out and blame the FBI for crack in the Hood. This Rhyme Syndicate member had a song calledF.B.I. which stood for Free Base Institute.  Before people got into crack, they free based cocaine..

A west coast anthem addressing this scourge was Dope Man by NWA..which gave keen insight into what was going on at the time..  (more…)
