This last Sunday a young man of Lebanese descent was arrested Sami Samir Hassoun, 22 years old and a permanent resident alien who works at a neighborhood Bakery allegedly tried to set off explosives in a busy part of Chicago.  However, the explosives – weren’t actually explosives.  It was fake, provided to this brother by what turned out to be an FBI informant.  From one source:

“The arrest stemmed from an investigation conducted by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Hassoun was charged with one count each of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and attempted use of an explosive device.”

Weapon of mass destruction – a fake bomb provided by the FBI.  This young man is 22 years old.  He may never have done any of this without the encouragement of the informant.  This has been a common theme in the latest wave of arrests of Muslims.  It’s called entrapment.  It’s generally not used much against non-Muslims because of the legal issues.  It’s a ready-made defense for any good attorney.  But when it’s a Muslim no one bats an eyelash.  People are so brainwashed by the media – they will justify anything.

“Hassoun ultimately decided (no doubt with the encouragement of the “cooperating witness”) to detonate an explosive device in the Wrigleyville area of Chicago. He planned to cause the blast on a weekend night in order to inflict maximum damage. After that, an undercover agent was introduced to the plotter by his cooperating associate in July.”

If you read the complaint, you will see that this “plotter” may well not have plotted anything without the encouragement and support of the FBI Informants.  In fact the FBI provided the fake bomb.  Another source:

“On Saturday night, Hassoun met with the agent who provided him with a backpack that he thought contained a high powered explosive device. The undercover agent showed him how to operate the device. The explosive device was made of inert materials and was incapable of detonating even though it was designed by the FBI to look authentic.”

Entrapment.  It’s an outrage, how can this even make it to court?  Easily, he’s Muslim,  therefore what the general public sees as “a terrorist.”

“Both men left in a rented car and headed towards Wrigleyville. Hassoun was under constant surveillance and agents watched as he placed the fake explosive device into a trash receptacle, after which he was arrested and the fake device recovered. The complaint alleges that the suspect’s motivation for planning this violent attack was a combination of his personal greed and political motivation.”

According to the complaint,

“In order to gain intelligence from Hassoun, the CS had, on his/her own volition, previously advised Hassoun that he/she knew people that could aid Hassoun in his proposed violent attacks.

In other words, the cooperating witness asked, suggested, and encouraged Hassoun to find a source to pay them for this alleged act.  You can clearly see that this entire scheme was planned by the FBI, and if Hassoun was truly willing to go through with it – it’s only through the encouragement of the FBI.  Using these methods – how many passionate, angry people who’ve witnessed so much injustice against their brothers and sisters – could be pulled into something like this?  Instead of going after people who may be planning attacks, they create the person.  Would he have otherwise planned and carried this out?  I tend to doubt it.

Also according to the complaint,

“11. When the CS suggested that an attack should be designed not to kill anyone but simply to attract public attention, Hassoun stated that they could design a bomb that would not explode, but be deployed in a manner that it would appear that it was discovered prior to a planned detonation.”

I wonder how much money was spent on this case?  I would hope that people take the time to read this complaint and notice these things.  Again, if Americans are so worried about terrorism, is this an efficient way to go about preventing it?  By creating it?  Does this make sense to anyone?

It goes on to say that the ideas above as well as car bomb ideas are the more modest ways of doing things.  The “bigger” ideas were:

“Hassoun’s “big jobs” proposals included unleashing a virus upon the city, poisoning Lake Michigan, attacking police officers, bombing the “Sears Tower,”3 or attempting to assassinate Chicago’s mayor. 4 The CS told Hassoun that the type of attack they would perform would need to be based on the supplies that his/her sources could provide and the money they would be willing to pay for their participation.”

I find this difficult to believe. I do not believe that was part of any serious conversation – a virus upon the city.  But now I’m just writing opinion.
