Guest Blog: A Building Block For Children By Eric Blair

I’m not going to start this train of thought with a quote; I just have one question: What is the value of our children’s future? I ponder about this everyday in society and the treatment of children; then the question comes about, do parents know our future’s worth? The way parents treat their own flesh and blood over the pettiest things. Few days ago, I seen a mother carrying six bags from a clothing store; three in each hand but she was screaming at her two small children because they were walking too slow. Really? The value of clothing, jewelry, cars, sex, or money is worth more than our children’s happiness. I am not a doctor nor I don’t have a degree in any child education/psychology but I am a father and human first. A child’s mortals are built at home with their parents. Some young parents are so concern with the most absurd antics in everyday living; forgetting that their own child needs just as much attention if not more. Let’s pause this for a second… I’m not pointing my fingers at anyone or degrading a person’s parenting skills; I just need to understand what the problem is. Why do some children know all the new dances to new Lil’ Wayne songs but don’t know their alphabets. Seeing a child with Polo shirts, jeans, skirts, and boots but barely knows how to speak or enunciate words like “cat.” To their parents that don’t matter, “My child is fresh” as the parent would say. I do not blame the children because they’re learning everyday. They only can learn what’s in their surrounding and upbringing. I blame their parents, why would you want your child to experience the imperfect plight you might had experience as a child? There are so many beautiful things in life to see and learn; why raise children in ignorance? (more…)
